The power valve actuator turns on/off the power valve, depending on intake manifold vacuum.  The power valve delivers extra fuel to the carb main circuit to enrich the fuel mixture under high load and full throttle conditions

The power valve actuator uses a diaphragm that can puncture/leak over time with older worn carbs.  A faulty power valve actuator will give a richer fuel mixture at cruise and part throttle, instead of only at high load and full throttle, giving poor fuel economy.

With the top cover off the carb removed, it’s a simple job to swap over the actuator and regain proper fuel mixtures.
