Gemini 220hp Turbo Kit

$1415  -  220hp Turbo Kit - Oil Cooled plain bearing turbo

$2290  -  220hp Turbo Kit - Garrett GT2052 Oil Cooled plain bearing turbo

On a standard 75hp engine, with the most basic non-intercooled setup and a good tune, running conservative boost of 7-8psi, you can expect a 50%-70% power increase to about 120hp ball park.  Power level is very boost dependant.

With a good tune and the appropriate supporting bolt-ons (intercooler, good flowing intake/carb & non restrictive exhaust), this kit will double the stock power to 150hp on approx 15psi boost .

With some modifications to the head (porting, valves, cam, etc), 220hp (164kW) can be achieved with this kit.

The kit is designed for an Isuzu G series engine (G161, G180, G200) fitted to a Holden Gemini, models TX-TG, Jackeroo, Rodeo, etc.  This kit also bolt onto 4Z series engines (4ZC1. 4ZD1, 4ZE1) such as found in Piazza and later model Rodeos as they share the same exhaust manifold stud patterns.

KIT INCLUDES:

- New stainless steel tuned length turbo exhaust manifold with T25 flange

- New 220hp spec turbocharger - see specs below (either unbranded plain bearing or Garrett ball bearing)

- New 2.0" stainless dump pipe supplied with unbranded 200hp turbo, or optional larger pipe when used with a conical reducer

- New 2.25" stainless dump pipe and v-band flange kit supplied with Garrett GT2052 turbo

- New stainless steel braided oil supply line and fittings

- New high temp rubber Aeroquip oil drain line with sump connector with fittings/clamps

- New gaskets for turbo and exhaust manifold.

- Simple to follow fitting instructions with photos that guide you through the installation.

The kit comes will all the little parts that are needed, like gaskets, hose clamps, studs, nuts and bolts, etc.  There is no fabrication necessary apart from welding the exhaust dump pipe, and installing the supplied oil drain fitting to the sump.  This is truly a bolt on kit.

TURBO EXHAUST MANIFOLD - Stainless Steel tuned length T25 flange

The exhaust manifold supplied is a brand new TurboGemini stainless steel tuned length T25 flange manifold.  (Note: T2, T25, T28, GT28, etc, flanges are all the same).  These TurboGemini manifolds have been designed to support over 500hp while still maintaining fast turbo boost response, minimising turbo lag.  To see a full description of our Turbo Manifold, click here.

TURBOCHARGER OPTION #1 - 220hp unbranded plain bearing turbo

The 220hp turbo is brand new T25 Garrett style (not genuine Garrett) plain bearing, oil cooled cooled with internal wastegate.  The unit can support 220hp.  Similar size compressor and turbine wheels to a Garrett GT2560 turbo, but with smaller exhaust housing for quicker spool on smaller capacity engines. All our turbos are VSR balanced and have 360deg thrust bearings.  Specs are:

bulletT25 exhaust flange
bulletcompressor 0.42 A/R - 55 Trim - 60mm Exducer
bulletExhaust A/R = 0.49 - 53mm 90 Trim turbine
bullet60mm compressor housing inlet / 50mm compressor outlet
bulletOil cooled
bulletAdjustable wastegate - standard setting 7-8psi (note: adjustment will give 1-2psi variation only)

TURBOCHARGER OPTION #2 - 220hp Garrett GT2052 plain bearing turbo

The GT2052 is a new Garrett brand turbo with plain journal bearings, oil cooled, with internal wastegate.  The unit can support 220hp.  These Garrett turbos are the preferred choice for smaller capacity engines chasing big power with higher boost levels, meaning they're still quite efficient on boost levels of 18-20psi, depending on actual power level and air flow.  They use advanced aerodynamics for the compressor and turbine making them smaller with less inertia, than the plain bearing unbranded turbos, so although they still have the same flow potential, they spool up noticeably sooner, to minimise turbo lag.  Specs are:

bulletT25 exhaust flange
bullet52mm Compressor - 0.51 A/R - 52 Trim
bullet47mm Turbine - Exhaust A/R = 0.50 - 72 Trim
bullet54mm (2.0" hose will fit) compressor housing inlet / 51mm (2.0") outlet
bulletOil cooled
bulletOptional wastegate actuators - standard supplied adjustable wastegate = 7/8psi, optional 16psi wastegate actuator available (note: adjustment will give 1-2psi variation only)

OIL & DUMP PIPE

Included in the kit are stainless steel braided oil supply line with fittings to connect from Gemini engine oil gallery to turbo oil inlet, oil drain fittings for turbo and engine sump, oil drain hose, heat proof shield, and stainless clamps.

The Garrett GT2052 turbo uses a custom machined turbine outlet 2.25" v-band flange to which a 2.25" stainless dump pipe is used.  Alternatively a 2.5" dump pipe could be welded to the 2.25" v-band flange.

The plain bearing T25 turbo uses a 2.0" stainless pipe for the dump pipe, which is welded to the supplied steel plate in whatever rotational position you want.  Or for additional cost, we can supply something like a stainless 2.5"-2.0" conical reducer so you could use a larger 2.25 or 2.5" dump pipe if preferred.

One thing that people should keep in mind is that the standard G series engine is very strong.  No strengthening modifications are required to use one of these kits, providing the engine is in decent condition to begin with, and the system is tuned properly, however if something isn't right and you get serious detonation, you are likely going to break something.  Boost levels that are safe to run depend on many factors, octane level of fuel, ignition timing, air temperatures, compression ratio, air/fuel mixtures, etc.

Stock G series engines usually have a static compression ratio of 8.7:1 or less, which is turbo friendly on high octane fuel.
